FLIGHT (for @tmhumour)

The only way I know is the one that starts with a tiny step. If I look too much ahead, I worry too much. If I worry too much, I fall. I fail, because I cannot understand how things will unfold and this makes me nervous and uncomfortable.

I get tied up, in my mind, and I throw myself to the ground and panic. So this is what I do to avoid falling: I always watch the next step. And I try not too worry too much about the following steps until they come to me. I have realized that if you manage the step you are now crossing over, you will probably manage the other following steps that lay ahead of you. Yet, if you pay excessive attention to all of those following steps, you will miss the step you are now actually walking on. And then, you will falter. You will fall.

Many of us pay too much attention to those endless steps and staircases. Way too much. Some people say that they are ``looking at the Big Picture´, looking at ``what lies ahead´. But life is treacherous, and she will taunt you if you become over obsessed about the future, like on of these people. Your mind will always wonder too much and you will miss the most important thing and the only thing which can save you: the Here and Now.

You can change everything, right now, at this very moment, only if you are able to manage the present step. Look at ``the Bigger picture´´and you will fall. You will worry too much about things that are not here right now. You will trip, over and over again and you will ask me ``oh please sir, ¿won´t you help me? ¿what can I do to change my life?´´. And I will tell you only this: stop looking at ``the Bigger Picture´´. Manage the step you are constantly tripping over. Then, make one step at a time. And you will see… life is not treacherous if you go one step at a time. ¿See? There you go.

You must start writing your story, one step at a time. You must fill the Blank Page of Life, the Blank spaces, with whatever it is you (and only you) know. You cannot write about what things you don´t know about. A very curious thing is that life is always surprising us with things we don´t know about. And that, my good friend, we cannot change, for it something we ought to love, and not hate or complain about.

You will put words on the page, words whose origin you will not understand neither recognize. But those words, young Un, are there, wonting to come out, wonting to come out and alight an obscure enough world. And this is my advise to you. You are a seed, but you will grow. Only, remember this: do not look too much further ahead. Just follow your footsteps. And they will make you safe.

There are many lessons to be learned when we open ourselves to the Now, to the Present Step. Go through life at this pace, friend, and then you will have gotten the Bigger Picture. Because you will have a deeper understanding of your self. And when it comes down to it, the truth is that you already are the Bigger Picture.
